Honeywell scientist Dr. Joseph J. Eachus holds tiny electronic device used to connect a computer to Western Union’s world-wide commercial Telex network.
The device, called an interface unit, was shown during first demonstration last month of long distance data communications over the Telex network, in which a Honeywell computer located at the company’s Newton, Mass. research center processed and analyzed data sent from Telex terminals in Minneapolis, New York and Boston.
Honeywell Electronic Data Processing officials said the computer-Telex data communications link has numerous business, government and scientific applications.
