NASA has revealed a new system of voice communication via a light beam called a Retrometer, it has potential usefulness in many fields of endeavor besides space.

The space agency says the Retrometer could be used wherever wiring is difficult to install or maintain, or is undesirable.

It may be used in theaters or at conventions for audience participation, in industrial plants or factories and on construction sites.
