An additional 36 million watts of electric power for defense industries in the Tennessee Valley will be produced when this generator shaft flange begins to turn at the TVA's Pickwick Dam.
John Kelcker, veteran Westinghouse machinist, is shown making the bore for the governor which maintains the speed of the 45 ton shaft at 81.8 revolutions per minute.
The complete generator is now under construction at the East Pittsburgh Works of the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company.
