Surrounded by a maze of tape-wound copper coils, this Westinghouse workman is assembling a 2,500-kilowatt turbine generator which will produce electric power for a U.S. Naval Air Station.

In the completed machine, a metal shaft or rotor will whirl at a speed of 3,600 revolutions a minute to generate electricity in these coils.
