Electric Furnaces

January 1938

General view of battery of electric creep test furnaces in the research laboratory of United States Steel Corporation, Kearny, N.J.

This testing equipment is constructed after a special design embodying simpler methods of control. Leverage ratio on the tension arms seen at the top is 9 to 1.

A unique feature of these furnaces is that all equipment is enclosed so that results of tests are not affected by changes in room temperature.
