Locomotive headlight bulbs are given a terrific bumping on this unique testing machine which duplicates the rough motion of a locomotive engine. Research engineers of the Westinghouse Lamp Company at the Bloomfield, (New Jersey) Plant, subject the bulbs to the machine’s tailor-made bumps until the bulbs fail.

These research studies assist engineers in improving the design of the lamps which, in turn, make for greater safety of train crews and passengers
