Electric Light

perhaps 1946

Many a gal has danced in the spotlight, but pretty Shirley Yager, Schenectady balleteuse, probably is the first to dance on a spotlight, or more specifically, the new General Electric sports floodlight, which will light Yankee  Stadium beginning May 27 [no year].

The floodlight’s special glass lens, designed to resist baseballs, can hold the weight of a 200 pound man and thus had no trouble supporting 118 pound Shirley as she cut a rug or two, glass that is.
