A Chicago lamplighter makes his rounds of the windy city’s few remaining gasoline lights, which will be replaced by the latest in residential street lights under a recently instituted street light replacement and rehabilitation program.

Chicago has made a contract with the General Electric Company’s Lighting Division for 7,260 electric luminaires, one of the largest single contracts for street lights ever awarded in this country, according to G-E lighting specialists.
