Electric Lighting
1941
The Statue of Liberty, holding high a lighted torch, is shown here at dusk.
Plans are being made to make Liberty’s torch twice as brilliant, and to revamp lighting around the base.
Westinghouse engineers are experimenting with mercury vapor lamps to re-light the Statue.
Westinghouse has designed lighting for the Statue twice before, in 1916 and 1930.
