TRANSFORMER MANUFACTUREE&MP 40.004 Electric Transformers December 17, 1948 PITTSFIELD, MASS., Dec. 25 -- Giant core and windings of a 20,000-kilo-volt-ampere transformer being lowered into its steel tank at the General Electric Company transformer plant here. Later the tank will be filled with insulating oil. When the transformer is finally installed in a power station, it will be capable of converting low-voltage electricity into high voltages suitable for transmission over long high-tension lines. -30-PHOTO NO.
