Electric Transformers

ca. September 1942

Believed to be the biggest electric switch in the world, this towering 230,000-volt disconnecting switch has been completed in an eastern General Electric factory and shipped to the West Coast for service in a new giant war plant.

Peggy McNulty, feminine tester, is shown christening the giant switch with something of the ceremony of a ship launching.
