Anderson spark at Mt. Wilson Observatory - a metal wire at the Mount Wilson Observatory explodes under the effect of the highest temperature ever reached by man -- 45,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is a [sic] teriffic bang and the wire disappears, but a hand held near it is unharmed.
