Batches of intermixed checks -- such as these paper and card checks of varying depths, lengths and thicknesses -- inscribed with magnetic ink identification and amounts were automatically processed by IBM' experimental electronic bank deposit accounting system. With only one recording of the check amount, complete proving, sorting, listing and totalling [sic] were performed.
