CAR TOP PROTECTS DRIVER

WESTINGHOUSE HIGH VOLTAGE LABORATORY: - Research engineers bombard auto [1938 Ford Coupe w/banjo steering wheel] with 3,000,000 volts of laboratory lightning to prove steel bodies shield motorists.

Stroke jumps to ground from car wheel. Likewise lightning rods protect miniature house (right) by detouring thunderbolts to ground.

Tests with such man-made thunderbolts help electrical engineers build lightning-proof power systems.
