Addition of a long-duration low-current discharge to normal artificial lightning enables a man-made replica of Jupiter's lightning bolt for the first time to burn inflammable targets which it strikes.

This photograph shows "hot lightning" in its public debut striking a haystack at the Sharon division of the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company.
