Westinghouse engineers mirrored in a pool of oil in which bushings and other electrical apparatus are submerged for voltage tests which would result in disturbing flashovers[sic] if performed in air.

Also reflected in the tank of oil is a sphere gap used to calibrate voltages for tests.
