EARLY WARNING RADAR

E&MP 103.058

Radar - equipment

ca. 1944

Here against the rugged background of Southern Italy, a radar silently probes the sky for errant units of the Luftwaffe.

Known to the War Department as an "early warning" radar, this equipment helped us to blunt the violence of the enemy's air attack at the very peak of its power early in the war.

Thousands of these radars have been manufactured by the Western Electric Company.
