Loran-D radio navigation system, aimed at providing precise navigation information for joint ground and air operations, is built by Sperry Rand's Sperry Gyroscope Division.

Above [right], a Sperry technician is pictured adjusting equipment in the air-transportable transmitter hut.

The transportable Loran transmitter was recently delivered to the Air Force at Eglin AFB, Fla.

The ground portion of the system consists of Loran-D stations which can be moved anywhere in the world.

Aircraft or ground vehicles using micro-circuit Loran receivers can pinpoint their positions with precise Loran radio signals.
