Testing the newest type General Electric signaling searchlight for candlepower and beam width on the indoor searchlight range of the Illuminating Laboratory. The test girl is centering the beam vertically while her male co-worker adjusts it laterally. This 12-inch all-steel welded searchlight, equipped with a "Venetian blind" shutter for sending silent messages in enemy patrolled waters, probably is destined for use on a cargo vessel or transport ship.
