For work requiring patience, close attention to detail, and manual dexterity, women are becoming increasingly useful in the communications field. This girl is one of nearly 100 employed by the Western Union Telegraph Company on the year-long job of installing a reperforator switching system in St. Louis, where telegrams on a perforated tape are relayed automatically and quickly to their destinations. The telegraph celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
