Patrolman Michael DeFio points out to David Bentley, six, how he and other Syracuse children may be saved from drowning.
This scene was at treacherous 7 ½ mile Onondaga Creek here which occasionally rises to within five feet of the bridge.
City officials asked that General Electric demonstrate how its closed-circuit TV equipment could help guards in making the stream safe.
It has claimed 35 lives to date.
The public demonstration by General Electric engineers showed that TV made visible two bridges and 800 feet of stream that was previously beyond the vision of one guard post.
